Casino Shangri-la opens in Katmandu

Now that peace has returned to Nepal, Casino Shangri-la is the seventh casino to open in Nepal.

Casino Shangri-la situated on the premises of Hotel Shangri-la is now open in Katmandu.

Hotel Shangri-la is the creation of Desmond Doig, the late writer and artist. The hotel was just raised to 5-star status.

Nepal Recreation Centre, a group led by Richard Tuttle, an American expatriate, runs casino Shangri-la.

With the increasing number of visitors, the group is planning to create another casino in Pokhara city, another popular tourist destination outside the capital.

Casino Shangri-la Chief Executive Officer, Shalini Wadhwa, said that the group is not worried about the competition among their casinos.

Wadhwa said that aside from the ten games that are distributed in the five thousand square feet, they also offer children's venue, astrologers sites, shows and reflexology.

Aside from the casino games, the creative selling point is the orientation towards women clientele.

Wadhwa said that the gaming complex would offer nights that are exclusively for women.

Aside from the woman CEO, women comprise sixty percent of the four hundred employees.

The casino expects to draw Indian clients to visit their casinos.

Indian tourists are the major stronghold of visitors last month comprising fifty percent of the arrivals.
